Prayer Times Definition
Ishaa (Night)

Ishaa (Night Prayer)

General Definition

Isha begins when the twilight (Arabic: Shafaq) in the sky has completely faded.

The majority of scholars considers the twilight in this context as the red twilight.

A deviating opinion originating from the Hanafi school claims that Ishaa begins only when the white twilight has compeltely faded and not the red twilight. However, the majority of scholars agree that the fading of the red twilight is the correct time of Ishaa.
